Carey Acerra has devoted her career to helping those in need. Ms. Acerra graduated from the University of Memphis in 1997 magna cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in English. She received her Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, from the Cecil C. Humphrey School of Law at the University of Memphis in 2004 where she was a member of the National Mock Trial Team and received the honor for Best Brief in her Legal Methods section.
Prior to opening the Jehl Law Group, Ms. Acerra worked for Wilkes & McHugh, P.A., for nine years specializing in nursing home negligence, medical malpractice, healthcare liability actions, maritime law, personal injury, and general tort litigation.
In her last year of law school, Ms. Acerra clerked for Honorable Robert L. Childers, Judge of the Circuit Court of Shelby County, where she gained invaluable litigation experience, as well as penned numerous opinions for the trial court and the Worker’s Compensation Panel of the Tennessee Supreme Court.
Before attending law school, Ms. Acerra worked in the legal field as a paralegal and secretary for several firms that had experience in medical malpractice, insurance defense, domestic relations, labor law, and general tort litigation.
Ms. Acerra is licensed to practice law in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Memphis Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Tennessee Association for Justice.
Ms. Acerra has been on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Association for Justice since 2012. Her peers recently elected her to the Board of Governors for the Tennessee Association for Justice for 2013-2014.
