Manor Healthcare
Manor Healthcare, also known as HCR ManorCare or ProMedica Senior Care, is a significant healthcare organization with over 300 skilled nursing and senior care facilities across the United States.
Despite claiming to provide safe, clean, and quality rehabilitation and skilled nursing services meant to ensure residents can maintain their independence for as long as possible, HCR Manor Healthcare was forced into bankruptcy in 2018, partly due to state actions and lawsuits against its facilities.
Introduction to Manor Healthcare
Manor Healthcare, or HCR ManorCare, is part of ProMedica Senior Care, a nonprofit that operates 53 memory care facilities in 5 states. The organization is committed to resident safety, personalized treatment, and an environment that supports residents’ well-being.
As a memory care nonprofit, Manor Healthcare services are limited to assisting its residents with daily living activities. This includes medication management, wound care, 24-hour supervision, and providing arrangements for external doctor’s appointments and physical therapy. Ratings and Performance
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) provides ratings to every hospital, skilled nursing facility, and other medical organization that accepts these benefits. Their five-star ratings are based on three subsets: health inspections, staffing, and quality measures.
However, Manor Healthcare, also known as HCR ManorCare or ProMedica Senior Care, does not accept Medicare or Medicaid, as it is an assisted living facility. Instead, it charges families directly for services.
